So, the big day is finally upon us, and yet it doesn’t have to ALL be about Christmas this weekend. So if you are feeling fed up of Christmas telly and are full to the brim with food then grab your coat and head out into London, where there are still plenty of things to see and do. Here is Broke In London’s pick of the best things to do on this Christmas weekend.

#1 | The lighting of the royal exchange Christmas tree | Bank | Free

See the Christmas tree at the Royal Exchange be switched on for the very first time this year, supported by the East London Choir from 5:30pm. The tree will be switched on by heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson at 6:45pm.

When: Friday 23rd December 2016 (5:30pm-7pm).
Where: The Royal Exchange, Threadneedle Street, London EC3V 3LA.
Cost: Free.


#2 | Chanukah in the Square | Trafalgar Square | Free

Join the UK’s biggest celebration of the eight-day festival of light for an all singing, all dancing fun for all the family with live music that is put together by the London Jewish Forum.

When: Saturday 24th-Sunday 25th December 2016 (event carries on until 1st January 2017).
Where: Trafalgar Square.
Cost: Free.

There’s nothing more festive than carols at Christmas and the impressive architecture of St Paul’s Cathedral is certainly on the best places to check them out. Tickets are free but must be reserved. Find more free Christmas carols here.

Watch the very brave of heart race though the Serpentine on the morning of Christmas Day. The race has been going since 1864 however didn’t get it’s name as the Peter Pan cup until the JM Barrie began to give out the cup in 1904.

Toast the first night of Chanukah with bouncy castles, doughnuts, latkes, crafts, music and dancing at this event at JW3 that is fun for all the family. The ice rink will also be open for you to enjoy.
