Films from around the world that make us think
There is a cool free film festival kicking off tomorrow in London. We the Peoples Film Festival is a rare festival as it tackles issues based on the UN’s Three Pillars of Freedom; freedom from want, freedom from fear and the freedom to live in dignity. The festival will run till the end of the month and will screen films all over London!
The festival takes its title from the opening words of the UN Charter and is a project of the United Nations Association’s Westminster Branch.
Entry is free and all you need to do is to book and print your own free ticket from the Festival website!

#1 The Well: Water Voices from Ethiopia
Chronicling the remarkable social lives of Ethiopian herdsmen; Also check E-Wasteland, a film which shows where our used electrical gadgets end up. Shocking!

#2 The Noise of Cairo
The film Shows how Cairo’s art scene re-emerged after Mubarak’s departure and now faces new challenges.

#3 Ai Wei Wei: Never Sorry
This is a perceptive analysis of the career of the controversial Chinese artist who is in danger of being airbrushed out of Chinese life.

#4 Through the Fire*UK premiere
The film gives unparalleled insights into the life and work of three remarkable Somali women. Filmed across Somalia, it shows us the humanitarian work we wouldn’t otherwise know about. The film’s producer will answer questions after the screening.

#6 House of Light
Insight into the everyday life of Peruvian orphans. A life full of poverty, loss and grief – a path they did not choose – and yet they still manage to find their way.

#7 The Suffering Grasses
This new film captures the initial impulses among Assad’s opponents at the onset of the Syrian revolution and shows how they change.
