By Manolis
Are you looking for a last minute ticket to a flawless view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks display? The bad news is that most of the ticketed firework displays are long sold out… However, fret not because the good news is that there are plenty of outstanding locations where you can enjoy the night within sight of the fireworks display without spending a penny!
Also, Transport for London has announced that it will be offering free travel between 11.45pm and 4.30am on the Tubes, buses, trams, the DLR and the London Overground! So there is no need to worry about money and how you will get back. Below you will find a list of the best places to see the fireworks for free:
#1 Monument and Cannon Street | Central London
These 2 are the best options if you want to be as close as possible to central London. Cannon Street is in the midst of St Paul’s Cathedral, Mansion House and Bank. Both are just outside of the ticketed zone and they will probably be super busy.
Nearest tube: Cannon Street
#2 Greenwich Park | South-east London
Greenwich park is one of south London’s largest parks. It offers stunning panoramic views across London so it can be an ideal spot if you live in South London.
Nearest tube station: Greenwich or Cutty Sark DLR stations
#3 Primrose Hill | North London
Primrose Hill, located on the north side of Regent’s Park is one of the highest points in London. If you manage to get a spot on the hill’s peak, you will have a great view of central London and Hampstead as well as Belsize Park.
Nearest tube station: Chalk Farm – Swiss Cottage
#4 Alexandra Palace | North London
This should be the less crowded place to watch the fireworks. However, it offers fabulous panoramic views across the capital. So, if you live north you should stay north and just head to Alexandra Palace.
Nearest tube station: Wood Green
#5 Hampstead Heath | North London
Hampstead Heath is another great spot in North London where you can enjoy the fireworks displays in style. It’s a well known destination for families who want to watch the New Year’s celebrations for free.

Tip: Avoid at all costs the key Tube stations in the ticketed area: Westminster, Embankment, Waterloo and Charing Cross.
