Lazarides and The Vinyl Factory Present: BRUTAL Exhibition
by Shea Georgina
I didn’t know what to expect when I was visiting the 180 Strand building and the “Brutal” exhibition. OK the title is quite straightforward and you get the sense of the content but I didn’t know any of the artists and their work so I didn’t have any particular expectations.
We got into a normal looking building from the outside, gave our names to the reception and walked towards the part of the building that the exhibition is taking place. As you are getting more into the inside, it’s getting darker and more industrial. Like an abandoned, “haunted” factory. A total different scenery than the one in the surrounding area.
At the ground floor you’ll see three amazing murals of DALeast and then at the basement you’ll find the main part of the exhibition.
The place is divided into different spaces with special exhibits in each one the the spaces. Animated videos, murals, paintings, photos, installations and music videos, all with a dark aspect, will keep you interested until the last minute.
But the best part I will keep it for you to experience, when you’ll get there. It’s the most intense part of the exhibition and it will complete the brutal trip of your senses!
