Celebrating 30 years of Cockpit Arts
Cockpit Arts, the London-based and award-winning creative business incubator for craft makers, is celebrating a milestone 30th Anniversary – with supporters of British craft being invited to take part in a series of captivating events.
To highlight its position as a hotbed of creative talent, the 30th Anniversary ‘Open Studios’ selling events take place in June and November/December when the public are invited to meet nearly 200 makers, at its two centres in Holborn and Deptford. Visitors will see behind the scenes in the studios and buy work direct from Cockpit Arts’ master craftspeople and artist-makers, past and present.
What’s on
· Textile artists, homeware designers, jewellers, instrument makers and a host of other crafts

A photographic display of Cockpit Arts makers – past and present – by renowned photographer, Alun Callender, will be on exhibition during the Open Studios. These specially-commissioned portraits will illustrate a diversity of maker success stories, demonstrating the trailblazing nature of Cockpit Arts’ work and the career journeys that exist for craft makers working in Britain today.
The 30th Anniversary Open Studios and other planned events will highlight ways in which the public can gain access to this much-loved city gem and its community of craft talent including bookable private tours and ‘away days’ throughout the year, and a special talk focussing on Cockpit’s jewellers as part of London Craft Week in May.
