This summer, you don’t need to empty your bank account and jet off to sunny Cancún to experience the delights of the rich Mexican culture. Hot on the heels of London’s Mezcal Week, Fiesta de Mexico is set to showcase the many sights, sounds and smells of Mexico… in the centre of London.
El paraíso for foodies
Don’t miss the chance to take part in what is to be a highlight of this year’s foodie calendar. From fresh tacos and tamales, served up by some of London’s best food traders, to thirst-quenching agave cocktails, visitors can sample a vast array of Mexican cuisine. Tequila lovers can learn more about their favourite tipple at the tequila and mezcal tastings, workshops and talks. And if fiesta-goers fancy taking a slice (or a shot!) of Mexico back home, there’s plenty of chances to buy authentic, rare local produce to spruce up the next batch of guac.

¡Ay, caramba!
When it comes to top quality entertainment, Fiesta de Mexico has it all. For those who enjoy a spot of Mariachi, Las Adelitas — a five-piece all-female Mariachi band — lead the way with flair and a flourish. Colourful dance performances from both the Mestizo Folklore Group and the Aztec dance group Atlachinolli Group promise to be a highlight of the weekend, with Europe’s only Mexican Charro showing off his astonishing lasso skills.
The small print…
On Friday, entry into the food market of the Fiesta de Mexico is free from noon until 4pm; this is extended until 5pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday. After this, the true spirit of fiesta comes to the Guildhall Yard (and with it, a £15 ticket price), with Mexico’s iconic masked ‘Lucha Libre’ wrestlers fighting on both Friday and Saturday evenings in an unmissable battle of good vs evil. The stakes are high.
