Late night art on the first Thursday of each month
Did you know that on the first Thursday of every month, over 150 galleries and museums in east London open their doors late till 21:00 with free events, receptions, talks, exhibitions and private views? It’s a great chance to experience east London’s cutting edge art scene and at the same time have some free drinks! Yes that’s right! A lot of galleries offer free wine or beers during that day!
Free Art Bus & Walking Tours in East London
Whitechapel Gallery in collaboration with Timeout London offer Free art bus & walking tours on the first Thursday of every month!
Art Bus Tour
You’ll travel to 3 of the top 5 exhibitions and events of that month with leading curators, writers, academics and artists. The meeting is at the Whitechapel Gallery at 6.45 pm, as the tour will leave the Gallery at 7:00pm sharp and return at 9:00 pm. Booking for the bus tours opens on the Friday before First Thursdays (a “book now” button will appear in the description of that month’s event) and due to overwhelming demand for places participants are selected randomly by a lottery and the lucky ones are notified by email 2 days before the event. The November tour will visit Unit G Gallery, Hales Gallery and 71a Gallery. You can like First Thursdays Facebook page to get updates and reminders and find the list of the bus tours.
