Banish your winter blues with great events that don’t cost a penny

After the hustle and bustle of the festive season, January can seem a bit boring. So, to lift your spirits and kick off the New Year, Rich Mix are bringing you an array of free events throughout the first month of 2015. Be it music, art, theatre or festivals, there’s something sure to brighten your mood!

Check out some highlights below:

#1 Four London Poets | Sat 10 Jan, 8pm

Four of London’s most accomplished poets are joining forces to present an evening of interesting, witty and moving poetry. With performances from Brett Van Toen, Wendy French, Richard Rickford and Agnes Meadows, who between them have won a number of literary prizes and produced some brilliant publications, it will be an evening of poetic celebration. #2 Soumik Datta Arts Club | Wed 14 Jan, 8pm

Soumik returns to Rich Mix with another night of music… and it’s as eclectic as ever! Get ready to be taken on a musical journey,  from house to tribal, soul to electronica, there are sounds a plenty. The nights go from wild to meditative and everything in between… immerse yourself in ancient Ragas before dance the night away on the dance floor!

#3 Moving Pictures | Tue 20 Jan, 8pm

A night of films that tackles the discrimination and stigma associated with mental health, Moving Pictures will bring together those who have experienced mental illness. As well as the opportunity to see some moving short films, you can also enjoy the ‘making-of’ documentary and a Q&A session with the film-makers.

#4 Trans-Siberian March Band with The Fierce and The Dead | Wed 21 Jan, 8pm

Rich Mix regulars TSMB return in January along with instrumental rockers The Fierce and The Dead. The four piece have built up a reputation for wild live shows, blending intelligent rock music with live garage band energy. The Rich Mix main stage is ready and waiting!

#5 Incloodu Deaf Arts Festival: Family Funday | Sat 24 Jan, 11-6pm

The festival runs until 1am with an evening of live music, but from 11am – 6pm there’s a free day of fun family activities for kids and adults of all ages! With workshops, performances, films and much more, everyone is invited to come and enjoy the day, BSL interpreters will be waiting in the foyer to welcome visitors to the event.
