featuring Natty, Osibisa, Max Romeo & more!
The Lambeth Country show is one of London’s biggest free events and takes place over a whole weekend in July. It has been going for 39 years and as its name suggests, celebrates the very best of the city and the countryside in urban Brockwell Park, Herne Hill, London SE24. Last year the show attracted more than 150,000 people!
This year’s event takes place on 20 and 21 July. As ever, there will be an real mix between flower and vegetable growing competitions, animal displays, sheep shearing, a chance to get creative with craft stalls and try out new ways to get fit. What makes the event unique is the range of live stage performances that take place both on the main stage and village green. For anyone new to London or if you’re a student living on a tight budget, it is one of the few events where you can see genuine headline acts perform for free!
Last year saw rising star Hollie Cook, daughter of Sex Pistols’ drummer, Paul Cook, perform. This year, another rising star, Natty, who describes his music as ‘fresh roots music with a twist’, takes the stage alongside long-established acts such as Osibisa and Max Romeo. Madness saxophonist Lee Thompson also performs with his own Ska Orchestra on Saturday afternoon. So lots to choose from over the weekend. There’s also lots of choice for tasty, reasonably priced food from local suppliers to keep you going. You can find the full line up as well as more info through Lambeth Country Show’s official webpage.
