An affordable pop-up British Meat restaurant
Featherblade, a pop up meat restaurant, is opening at the Star of Bethnal Green, with a launch party on 18th September and a four month residency at the pub until 4th January 2015. They are marking their opening with some knee shakingly good offers:
- Grand Opening Party giveaway (18th September): free sample starters will be distributed with reckless abandon between 7-9pm.
- 19th September to 30th September (excl. Sunday’s): Eat our Meat opening offer, with 50% off all main meat dishes & a free bottle of wine for all parties over 4 people.
A Chopless Chophouse
Featherblade is inspired by the best British steak restaurants, combined with those abundant fun, young and affordable eateries that are often quality meat free. Certainly steak free.
So, the Featherblade idea is a simple one: an affordable British meat restaurant. A modern British meat house if you will. A chophouse without the chops, but with lots of meat and all at great prices.
The menu focuses on tasty but inexpensive cuts from good quality livestock. Think hanger and bavette rather than sirloin or fillet, shoulders over rumps and brown thighs not just white breasts.
And the head chef Jessica Simmons is young, talented, hugely enthusiastic and trained under Angela Hartnett.
Featherblade spent months of fruitless searching trying to find the ideal chef then, like buses, three arrived at once. But Jess stood out. Classical Michelin training combined with an almost surprising love of food modern and dirty. She turned up with beer ketchup and cauliflower cheese croquettes. Oh and salted beer caramel sauce good enough to be used as an alternative remedy.
