English Tourism Week 2013 – Free walks talks and tours in London

The English Tourism Week (16-23 March) is a week-long series of events celebrating the quality of the visitors’ experiences in London. To celebrate the 2013 English Tourism Week, City of London has planned a rich programme of free activities for local residents and workers to discover the City’s heritage and culture. The programme includes free talks, walks and tours! The following are 3 highlights (from tours & talks) of this year’s programme:

1. 19 MarchThis is Wren: Tony Tucker will talk you through Wren’s life and careers as a scientist, astronomer and architect with particular focus on his City Churches. Guildhall Library, Aldermanbury EC2V 7HH. When: 2-3pm; unreserved seating.

2. 20 March – Coffee with the Curator: Join Assistant Curator Katty Pearce for a morning beverage and pre-work tour of Guildhall Art Gallery’s collections. Coffee will be served at 8.15am and the 45 minute tour will start at 8.30am. Places are first come first served.

3. 23 March – Tours of Guildhall complex: The Gothic Guildhall, built around 1411, is an impressive sight. Join a City Guide on this tour to hear about its history, including its survival through the Great Fire and the Blitz and some of that notorious events that took place here such as the trial of Lady Jane Grey. Tours will begin at 11.30am and 2.30pm and from the West Wing Reception, Aldermanbury, EC2V 7HH. To book email visit@cityoflondon.gov.uk stating the tour time and number of places.
To celebrate the English Tourism Week 2013 (16-24 March) , City of London has planned a rich programme of free talks, walks and tours.

Regarding the free walking tours, you’ll have also lots of options(see below)! The meeting point will be the City Information Centre at 5.45pm. Places are first come first served, so don’t be late!
