Are you California dreaming (of pizza)?

Have you ever been so hungry that you could eat a horse? Well how about being hungry that you could eat a bus? Luckily for you, Joe Public, a pizzeria from the guys behind Brickwood Coffee and Bread are bringing 20″ pizzas sold by the slice to a disused public toilet in Clapham Common and are giving away 500 FREE slices at their opening on the 26th March just for turning up! That equates to the length of eight London Buses or the wingspan of two Boeing 747s in pizza-y goodness.

Public Toilets!?

Don’t worry, this isn’t a health risk waiting to happen. The old, Victorian toilets next to Clapham Common station have been transformed, serving up in the grab-and-go, California-style, traditionally seen across the pond. For those with time to kill, stool seating is available but there’s also a quick-serve hatch that serves pizza to-go for those who don’t. Hungry commuters can also grab coffee and bacon butties on their way to work in the mornings.

What’s On The Menu?

It’s all about the fresh, seasonal toppings and a thin, crispy base. Options include: fig, gorgonzola, prosciutto and pine nuts and roasted lamb, purple potato, feta and olives to name a few. Wash these down with a house craft beer, wines on tap and specially selected whiskies. Also don’t forget to check out their packaging, which is designed by local graphic designers and artists.
