I don’t remember how I first heard about Joram Rookes but what I do remember is the feeling when I first saw his work. Something between dream and reality. His work is a combination of a fairytale for grown-ups and a sense of an art that you could find in the streets.

His collage like oil paintings depict an imaginary world of human/animal like creatures that as he states on his website “are reflections on daily life situations in western society, filtered and reassembled in a collage-like manner”. His solo show “Les Bons Sauvages” at StolenSpace (Dray Walk, The Old Truman Brewery 91 Brick Lane) is up and running until the 14th  of April. It’s free and it definitely worth a visit!
