Throw away those guilty pleasures!

When we moved house I was told that it was time to declutter the DVD collection of all of my Rom-Coms and Chick Flicks. So tomorrow, sometime between 8am and 8pm, that is exactly what I will be doing.
There are a number of sites online that will buy your unwanted old CDs, games and DVDs. I decided to use Music Magpie – it was the first to come to mind, I had heard of other people that had used it and I found the smart phone app really easy to use – other good sites for selling CDs, DVDs and games include Ziffit and Zapper.
Is selling my goods easy to do?
YES! All you need to do is register with the website, enter the barcode of the items you want to sell, package them up (they will send you a delivery label) and arrange for the parcel to be collected. Typing in each barcode can be a time consuming task but this is where smart phone users have an advantage – if you download the app then you can scan the barcode straight onto your sale list.
You can either take your package to a local delivery point or it can be collected from your house. If you are not going to be home, just let the site know a safe place that you can leave it in and they will pick it up from there.
How much can I earn?
Unfortunately, CDs, DVDs and games are not worth a lot these days. You are looking at receiving between 25p – 30p per DVD. It has taken me 30+ DVDs to hit my target of £10 (if only I had foreseen this happening when I was filling my basket at HMV sales).
Admittedly, sites like eBay and Amazon offer you a better return for your items (you can get up to 80% back plus free shipping when you sell your CDs or books through Amazon) but there is no guarantee that your DVD will be sold and you have to worry about postage.
If you have a load of games, CDs or DVDs that you know you’re not going to watch anymore then you may as well make some money out of them. For a quick and easy sale then download one of the smart phone apps, send your goods away and wait for the money to appear in your account.
