4 Things You Should Believe in when Starting Your Own Business

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”

By Manolis Zografakis

Starting your own business is certainly not an easy thing. Amongst many things you need to be strong, confident, passionate and to believe… Believe in what you ask? If you are a closed minded person who questions almost everything that comes your way then you might face great difficulties with your new business. Theodore Roosevelt once said ‘believe you can and you’re halfway there’. Faith and belief in both your idea and yourself will help you grow your business and your self as an entrepreneur and as a person and will keep you going.

#1 Believe in yourself

First and foremost you need to believe in yourself and your skills. You need to have a high sense of self worth. Being an entrepreneur can be difficult and tricky. You will need to work very hard to achieve your goals and to create a winning company. To do so, you might need to deal with several aspects of the business that you never had the chance to explore. Therefore, you will need to believe that you have all the skills required by the company and this means that you need to believe in yourself as a whole. If you need to deal personally with a specific task or a problem but you have no clue about what to do and how to do it then simply believe that you will learn how to do it and you will solve it.

 #2 Believe in your idea

If you don’t believe 100% in your own business idea how do you expect others to do so? You probably don’t implement every business idea that comes to your mind right? But if you get that BIG once in a lifetime idea and you strongly believe that it WILL make the difference and that it WILL be successful then just go ahead and do it! And never forget the passion and faith that you had in the beginning. There might be people who will not believe in your idea but what matters most is not what other people think but what you think or believe! After all if you don’t take the step to implement your idea you will never know if it would be successful or not.

#3 Believe in others

As much as you need to believe in yourself you also need to believe in others. Why is that, you ask? Well, when you start a new business venture just by yourself it is very difficult to do every single thing/task on your own. It is almost inevitable that at some point you will eventually need the help of others. At that point, you will need to trust the person who will take over the specific task and believe in them. You can be skeptical in the screening process when you search to find the right person but after you assign the task you should believe in them.

#4 Believe that you can do it

There will be days that you will loose faith and you will question yourself, your idea and almost everything around it. However, have in mind that this can be just a bad day and nothing more. Try to remember that behind the clouds there is the sun so this is just a temporary condition and it will shine again. And after a bad day or a bad period, if you still feel gloomy and you see only ‘black’ you should remember that when there is ‘black’ there is also ‘white’. The key point is to know where to focus your attention. If you focus on the right color then this will affect the way you see things and life in general. Don’t give up when you face difficulties, instead try to use this challenge to become better and wiser.

“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” Winston Churchill
