The best events this weekend 24-26 October
As always there are a lot of exciting free things to do in London this weekend. However we’ve managed to pick the top 5 including also some Friday events. We are excited about Batch Gueye Band’s event at our favourite Passing Clouds, the launch of South Norwood and Thornton Heath Free Film Festival as well as the final weekend of the London Free Film Festival. There is also the last day of Deptford Village Fete at Vinyl Deptford and the Apple Day festival in Borough Market. ►Open the Gate – Africa Special at Passing Clouds, E8 4AA – Fri 24 (7pm-4am)
Great Afro event featuring great live acts from the likes of Batch Gueye Band and Nogabe Randriaharimalala (FREE before 9pm).
►Short Sighted Cinema Presents: Hackney at Hackney Attic, E8 1 HE – Sun 26 (starts at 6pm)
An evening of short film inspired by the buzzing borough of Hackney – part of London Fiends Free Film Festival
►South Norwood and Thornton Heath Free Film Festival Launch at Stanley Halls, SE25 6AB – Sat 25
The launch of the festival with live music and 3 free films including Dubstep documentary Bassweight.
►Apple Day family festival in the Green Market, SE1 1TL – Sun 26 (12pm-4pm)
1000 varieties of apples will be displayed in a unique spectacle, including the oldest known variety – Court Pendu Plat!
►Deptford Village Fete at 4 Tanners Hill, SE8 4PJ – Sun 26 (12pm-5am)
Last day for the local village fete style event where you’ll find vintage clothes, yummy cakes and nice music.
