The best budget things to do this bank holiday weekend!

It’s time to ring in the beginning of a (hopefully happier) New Year as the 31st of December fast approaches. The parties on New Year’s Eve are obviously a given, (we’ve got 7 free parties your could check out!) but if you are looking for stuff to do pre- and post- the main event, it may be worth checking out the options below. After all, you have got an extra day to fit everything in, or rather, fit everything in around your hangover! Here is Broke In London’s pick of the best things to do this bank holiday weekend:
#1 | Buttoned Down Disco FNYE Party | Camden | Free/£10
Not really feeling New Year’s Eve and want to put 2016 to bed early? Head down to Koko for Buttoned Down Disco, a party of glitter, balloons and indie bangers. This party is invite only, so don’t forget to put down you and your friend’s email addresses here.
When: Friday 30th December-Saturday 31st December (10am-4am).
Where: KoKo, 1A Camden High Street, London, NW1 7JE.
Cost: Free before 10:30pm, £10 after.
#2 | New Year’s Day Parade | Green Park-Westminster | Free
London’s biggest and most exciting parade winds through the centre of the West End and is made up of over 10,000 participants from across the UK, Europe, America and beyond, as this marks the parade’s 30th year.
When: Sunday 1st January 2017 (begins at 12pm).
Where: The parade begins in Green Park and ends in Westminster, check the website for more info.
Cost: Free.
#3 | New Year’s Day Ceilidh Celebrations | Southbank | Free
Dance your way out a hangover and into the New Year with the Ceilidh Liberation Front in the Southbank Centre. It will be a loud, lively take on the original Scottish folk dance.
When: Sunday 1st January 2017, (2pm-4pm).
Where: Southbank Centre, SE1 8XX.
Cost: Free.
#4 | Sky Tonight Liberation Front | Greenwich | £7.50
Presented by one of the Royal Observatory Astronomers, find out what is happening in the night sky the night after you visit and for the month ahead in this live look at the moon, planets and constellations.
When: Friday 30th December 2016-Monday 2nd January 2017 (available slots vary).
Where: Royal Observatory Greenwich, Blackheath Ave, London SE10 8XJ.
Cost: £7.50(under 16s £5.50, concessions £6.50).
#5 | Landscape Photographer of the Year | Waterloo | Free
If you have a few minutes to spare, waiting at Waterloo Station, go and check out the stunning photography of the nominees up for the Landscape Photographer of the Year.
When: The exhibition is on until 5th February 2017.
Where: Mezzanine level, Waterloo Station, Waterloo Rd, Lambeth, London SE1 8SW.
