BAFTA are inviting you to celebrate ‘40 Years of Bugsy Malone’ at its prestigious and swanky central London headquarters, BAFTA195 Piccadilly. This is one birthday party you won’t want to miss! From Friday 5th to Sunday 7th August, ‘BAFTA’s Bugsy Birthday Bash’ will see BAFTA’s iconic Piccadilly home transformed into a den of custard pie capers and splurge gun shenanigans.
The film Bugsy Malone won multiple awards, multi-BAFTA winning to be precise, and this year marks its 40th birthday! So what better way to celebrate than throwing a massive birthday bash!? There will be a free exhibition, film screenings, splurge guns and an exciting package of events to entertain you this summer! Who doesn’t remember Bugsy or the following tune to “My name is Tallulah…”
Celebration event on the 29th June
BAFTA will host a special screening of the film featuring a Q&A that reunites four of the extraordinary talents involved in Bugsy Malone – director Alan Parker, producer David Puttnam and actors Dexter Fletcher and Bonnie Langford. The event takes places on Wednesday 29 June, it’s just around the corner so get booking your tickets! Tickets cost £7.50.

It’s time to partaay!
The free exhibition, starting on the 5th August, will explore the making of a masterpiece with behind- the-scenes images, sketches, and untold stories. There will also be ticketed film screenings and a Fat Sam’s area with a dressing up box, photo booth, a working splurge gun for splurging and a speakeasy bar. The one remaining original splurge gun from the film will be on display in the exhibition.

‘40 Years of Bugsy Malone’ promises to be fun for all the family – for the young and the young at heart. It is a chance to remember and relive the gloriously catchy songs and irrepressible humour of this BAFTA-nominated film, within the famous walls of another great British institution.
