Festive period in London - BrokeInLondon

Festive period in London

story and photos by Shea Georgina

So you’re holidays in London? Same here! Feeling kind of homesick and weird for doing so?? Nahhhh! London is amazing for holidays. Imagine all the people the spend hundreds of pounds for visiting London during these days! And you have the privilege of having a home here and enjoying the best free options that the city has to offer.

So, what you could enjoy now that you couldn’t before? First option is the Rain Room in Barbican. I couldn’t really understand why people were going to a rain installation in a city that most of the times rains!  It sounds like raininception! The rain room inside a rainy city! But as soon as we entered the room after waiting just 25’ (most of the people had to wait 1+hours before the holidays, simply because every Londoner wanted to go…but now Londoners have gone!!!) even for 7’ that we were able to control and stop the rain with just our presence (something that would be very convenient in real life) we felt happy. We were 4 people that felt like children again, out of our comfort zone for a bit. You might get a little wet, because obviously you’re not God.. but it’s worth it! Totally recommend it!

Also don’t forget that the sales have started! Incredible bargains on everything that you were looking for and couldn’t afford the previously! People camp outside department stores for goodness sake, waiting for the best of London’s sales and you will miss it? (By the way it’s not that crowded out there so you might even enjoy it instead of feeling that you’re in a war). If you prefer shopping from your couch check our Clothes & Accessories section.

A great suggestion for NYE and the day after is instead of going out, you can in with a couple of friends, eating, drinking and having fun with the minimum cost and  maximum pleasure! You can also enjoy this free compilation compiled by DLaw as we did for Christmas and satisfy your ears at the same time! Not too Christmassy but still, quite the thing!

If staying in is not your choice you could go Shoreditch from 6pm on Monday 31st of December till 1am on Tuesday 1st of January where Street Fest takes place, and for just a fiver enjoy the best dishes from New York, Jamaica, Thailand, Mexico, Barbados, and India.

Whatever you choose to do these days have a great time and an amazing and happy New Year! Get some rest and recharge your batteries with unforgettable memories and joy!
