The Lab Film Festival in London from 21 to 30 of June 2013
To all film makers, film lovers, artists, Londoners and everyone else! Don’t miss the Lab Film Festival – An all-round celebration of film making talents and arts in the heart of the East End that will keep you busy with over a week of screenings, discussions, workshops, music and performances.
The festival kicks off on Friday 21st June at the festival hub, Mother Project Space, Hackney Wick, from 6pm on. A free night of screenings and performances by artists Melanie Clifford (Resonance FM), Graham Dunning (NTS radio), Suzie Zabrowska, Marianne Hyatt and more. Music and bar till late.
Galleries, studios and venues across the East End will take part in the festival with their own curated events. Free programme highlights include a forum on film as a short form (The White Building, 23 June); screenings of The Wick, a self funded feature film set in the post-industrial waste land of Hackney Wick (See Studio, 27,28, 29 June); a guerrilla film making workshop with Hollywood actor and filmmaker Leon Herbert (Cre8 Lifestyle Centre, 27 June); Stour Space resident film makers night (Stour Space, 29 June); a film programme on London’s contemporary socio-political climate curated by Carmen Billows (Arbeit, 30 June); a guided walking tour of Hackney Wick (by donation, 30 June).
All events at Mother Project Space are free. Expect variety and wonders! Showreels of festival submissions, a Symposium on archival and retrieval, a European Film Night, a Local Film Makers night and much much more!
The best films will be awarded prizes by a jury including Phil Ilson, London Short Film Festival Director and a representative of the East End Film Festival during the Award Ceremony and Closing Night at Mother Project Space on 30 June.
