The Winter Festival 2013 at the Southbank Centre

The perfect way to to celebrate the Christmas period

As usual, every year Southbank Centre offers to all something special to celebrate the Christmas period. This period, it’s the turn of the Winter Festival. The Festival has already started last month, but you will be still able to catch most of the interesting stuff in the program, since it lasts till Friday 10th of January 2014.

We had a look at the program and we would like to highlight a selection of the best events. First, we definitely recommend you to book a ticket for Slava’s Snowshow. This show has nothing to do with the common image of the stereotyped clown. Slava’s characthers will move your deepest feelings of compassion, love and wonder. So it is definitely worth to invest some money in this show for a Christmas gift.

Anyway, there are also lots of free events scheduled for the Winter Festival! For example, on the 19th of December you can join the Gamelan Christmas Chimes celebration and relax at an evening of Javanese gamelan and dance performance. Moreover, on the 15th of December it is scheduled an afternoon of Argentine Tango including live music demonstrations and tango lessons. Tango for Christmas?? Why not!!

If you fancy something more traditional, there is a variety of Christmas markets around the site, featuring traditional wooden chalets serving food and warm drinks. The Winter Festival offers so many events that we can not mention them all so, have a look at the program and pick the best for your!
