Not your average Sunday food market

London Borough market, Shoreditch market, Kensington food market… if you have been there done that, but remain a food market lover, you shall not despair! We are here to tell you that there are plenty more Saturday and Sunday food markets for you out there.
In the Chelsea and Kensington borough you can find the Acklam Village MarkeT W10 (formerly known as Portobello Fine Foods). Conveniently located only 1 minute away from Ladbroke grove tube station and juts by Portobello Saturday market, the Acklam Village market is something you should definitely check out if you happen to be in the neighbourhood. Ok, it might not be as big as other major markets, still it offers an impressive variety of international food and so it is one of the UK food markets worth visiting.
A stroll around the busy Portobello market and intensive shopping from the street vendors should be followed by a visit to the Acklam Village market. Although small, the market offers a variety of food options; from Central American empanadas to Thai street food. You can choose to pick up something to nibble while continuing your walk through Notting Hill, or escape the madness of the Portobello Saturday market by chilling in the Acklam market’s own live gig hall. Yes, that’s right, the market has a massive indoors space where you can sit, enjoy your meal with a cold beer while listening to live back to back performances. We do not guarantee that you will come across the best live music in London but the gigs we have checked out where very good.
The market is on every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Be there for 2pm to give yourself enough time to check out all the food options. My personal favourite is the Venezuelan stall Guasacaca, just by the gig hall (the live Den music hall). The arepas (freshly baked corn ‘pitas’ filled with beef, chicken or pork plus some black beans, fried plantains, chees and the deliciously tasty home made avocado sauce) are unreal and the guys running it are super nice. Finish your meal with sugar cane lemonade while listening to the live gig in the background.
