Find out how your fellow Londoners start their days
By Matt Jones (Guest post)
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so the saying goes. It’s certainly true – a good breakfast can set you up for the day ahead, giving you the perfect boost to help you tackle the day whether you’re job hunting tackling that important task at work or heading out for a wander on the weekend. But it doesn’t have to be the same every day.
So What do Londoners Eat for Breakfast?
We hopped on the tube to ask Londoners from all over the world what they have for breakfast, giving you the inspiration to spice up your morning routine with some fresh flavours. Besides, there’s more to life than a Full English. This interactive map was created by London-based illustrator Lucy Rose Doll – hover over the portraits to discover what each person has for breakfast!
Fish Eggs on Toast?
After all, London is a city host to a multitude of interesting cultures, each of them with their very own idea of what constitutes the perfect breakfast, from fish eggs on toast to cold noodles with roasted meat. Some of the answers may seem a little alien to English palettes used to hash browns and baked beans, but alongside the more shocking suggestions we found a few continental twists on familiar favourites to help you shake up your breakfast, without shocking your taste buds.
The next time you find yourself automatically sleepily inserting sliced bread into your toaster, tell yourself to stop. Instead, try something a little more international and adventurous. If you want to sample some of the meals mentioned, take a look at the recipe book too. Now there are no excuses!
