The internet’s top money saving websites

The internet is full of websites that are dedicated to saving you money. Some offer great advice or help with budgeting, others will let you know all the latest offers and deals whilst the rest will give you vouchers to print out and take with you on your next night out. I’ve gone through loads of these sites to find the best ones for you. Here are my top 30 money saving websites.
#1 Money Saving Expert | Money Saving Tips
For all general advice, the latest deals and money saving vouchers, Money Saving Expert is one of the best sites. They also have lots of information on cheap days out and guides to helping you get compensation if you’ve been delayed or overpaid.
#2 Money Magpie | Money Saving & Money Making Tips
Money Magpie is loaded with lots of advice on how you can make or save money. There’s also some handy comparison tools so you can work out which is the best insurance, broadband or credit card provider for you.
#3 Money Advice Service | Money Advice
The Money Advice Service is a government run website created to help you out with all your money needs. There’s lots of advice about budgeting your money, benefits you could be entitled to and how to take control of your debt.
#4 Ashleigh Money Saver | Money Saving Tips
Ashleigh is one of the UK’s favourite money savers. Her website is full of information about the latest offers and deals, competitions and freebies. You can also sign up for her newsletter so that you never miss out on a promotion.
#5 Moneywise | Money Saving Tips
For all round financial help look no further than Moneywise. It’s a good site to look at if you’re thinking of investing and there’s a whole section on different scams to be careful of. There’s also some good advice about your consumer rights and how to complain if you feel you’ve been wronged.
#6 Student Money Saver | Student Discounts, Deals & Offers
If you are a student then you need to check out Student Money Saver. There’s lots of freebies and offers like 2 for 1 cinema tickets, money off holidays and free bottles of wine.
#7 Student Beans | Student Discounts, Deals & Offers
Another website designed specifically for the student population. Student Beans is full of ways to help you save money as well as giving you advice about student jobs and internships. You can also sign up for a free Student Beans ID card to use whenever you are entitled to a discount.
#8 Latest Deals app | Online shopping & comparison site for groceries
The Latest Deals app is a free mobile app that helps you compare supermarket prices, get the UK’s top deals, vouchers, freebies and competitions. You will be able to compare prices on products sold at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Waitrose and Iceland.
#9 OpenTable | Restaurant-reservation
If you’re planning on going out for a meal, try booking with OpenTable first. You can search restaurants that have special offers like money off or set menus. And, if you book with OpenTable you will accumulate points that can be used towards free meals.
#10 Freecycle | Free Stuff
If you’re looking for furniture, homeware or other goods and you’re on a budget then have a look at the Freecycle website. You sign up to be in a group that’s closest to you (Southwark for me) and then see what other people are offering. It is also a great way to get rid of your unwanted goods.
#11 Gumtree | Free Stuff
Gumtree has pages and pages of second hand goods for sale. To make it a bit easier you can search by product, location and price. There’s also a freebie page if you really want to hang on to your hard earned cash.
#12 Read It Swap It | Book Swapping
If you fancy yourself a bit of a bookworm and are looking for something new to read then try out Read It Swap It. Firstly, you need to register all of the books that you don’t want any more and then you can search for books that you want to read and arrange to swap. You don’t have to pay anything to register for Read It Swap It so all you need to pay for is the postage.
#13 Book Brain | Buying Books for Cheap
If you are looking to buy a brand new book then head to BookBrain. BookBrain searches UK bookstores (including Amazon) to find the cheapest price for you. It’ll list the prices of books are available plus any delivery charges and then you can decide where to buy it from.
#14 HotUKDeals | UK Deals & Offers
HotUKDeals is a big online forum where users share the hottest shopping deals they can find. Members list their deals with all the relevant information – the product, price and where you can get the deal.
#15 VoucherCodes | Vouchers
VoucherCodes is a website that can give you discounts on restaurants, days out and shopping. All you need to do is find the discount you want, click on ‘get code and open site’ and you will be given the code to input when you finish shopping. For restaurant vouchers, you need to enter your email address so they can send it to you.
#16 Vouchercloud | Vouchers
For all vouchers, discounts and offers go to vouchercloud. There are vouchers for online shopping and services (including holidays and insurance), vouchers that you can download to your mobile and vouchers to print from your computer. This is one of my favourite websites for restaurant vouchers.
#17 Dealslands | Vouchers
Similar to the previous two websites, Dealslands.co.uk is one those great voucher sites that allow you to search for offers and discounts from leading UK retailers and businesses. The site is updated on a hourly basis and you will find all the latest money saving discounts and promo codes.
#18 Amazon Local | UK Deals
You can get great deals on theatre tickets, restaurant meals and short breaks away by registering with Amazon Local. You can see what’s on offer near to you so that everything the page brings up is relevant to you.
#19 Groupon | UK Deals & Vouchers
Groupon is one of the most popular discount sites in the UK. Once you have signed up you will be emailed all of the daily deals. There’s always good savings to be made on food and drink, things to do and hair and beauty.
#20 Wahanda | Hair & Beauty Deals
If you are in need of hair cut or looking for somebody to pay your nails some much needed attention sign up for Wahanda. You can choose your local area and what you want done and it will bring up all the offers available. There’s a surprising amount of hair and beauty salons registered with Wahanda so you can definitely feel pampered for less.
#21 The Trainline | Train Deals
If you are traveling throughout the UK then save up to 43% by booking with The Trainline rather than purchasing your tickets on the day. The Trainline looks at all the providers and gives you the cheapest option for your journey. Don’t forget to use your railcard for even bigger savings.
#22 Idealo & Moneysupermarket | Price comparison website
Visit idealo.co.uk to find the best deals from 1000s of shops as well as shopping advice and price comparison. For help with household bills, bank accounts and insurance check out Moneysupermarket. For utilities like gas and electric, Moneysupermarket asks you a few quick questions about your household and current provider then compares all the providers to tell you how much you could be saving.
#23 Applause Store | Free television and radio audience tickets
If you love live shows and want to see them being filmed then you can apply for tickets on Applause Store. It’s not guaranteed that you will get tickets (or that you will get in when you receive them) but I’ve been lucky enough to see some of my favourite shows being filmed.
#24 Lastminute | Last Minute Deals & Offers
For holidays, days out, theatre and other entertainment try booking lastminute. You can book all-inclusive deals to Egypt, Spain or Morocco as well as more long-distance holidays. The spa packages that they have on lastminute are also great value.
#25 Discount London | Theatre & London Attraction Deals
Discount London is the site to go to if you are looking for theatre tickets or London attractions. There are lots of sites that do this kind of thing but Discount London check their prices every day to make sure you are getting the best deal.
#26 Travelsupermarket | Comparing Travel Deals
For all things travel related, you need to head to Travelsupermarket. The site compares all the best holiday companies to give you the trip of your dreams. You can compare flights, travel insurance, hotels and all-inclusive packages to find the right holiday for your budget.
#27 Skyscanner | Flight comparison
If you’re going on holiday and looking for a flight then head to Skyscanner. You can choose a specific date and see all the different flights departing that day, or look at the whole month and see which date is the cheapest day to fly on. You can also see if there is a difference between the cost of direct flights or ones that will require a stopover.
#28 PriceRunner | shopping comparison
PriceRunner is an online shopping comparison site. You search for the product you want to buy (like a new TV) and they will hunt out the best prices. They search hundreds of the UKs best retailers like Argos, Amazon and John Lewis and give you all of the options. They even provide you with the link to the product so you can purchase it straight away.
#29 Saynoto0870 | Save money on tel
Calling 0870 numbers can be very expensive but if you use Saynoto0870 then you might be able find an alternative number. This is a great way of contacting some of the big companies without paying the big money.
#30 Quidco | Cashback & Voucher Codes
If you like doing your shopping online then join Quidco to earn cashback every time you shop. You just need to browse the offers and then click on the link to make your purchase. It works because Quidco get paid a commission for linking you to the retailers, they then share that commission with you.
